" A Hilarious And Heartwarming Musical Comedy That's Perfect For The Whole Family "
Book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice
Music and Lyrics by Andrew Lippa

The Addams Family is a comical feast of a musical that embraces the wackiness in every family. This musical is a new story based on the Addams Family cartoons, full of original songs, stunning costumes, and endless laughs.

It’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a man her parents have never met. Lucas Beineke is a sweet, smart, “normal” young man from a respectable family–everything the Addams detest. When Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before: keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the Addams and the Beinekes–who have secrets of their own–on one fateful night, when they gather for dinner. A jealous brother, a lovestruck Uncle, a menacing butler, and someone’s grandma (we’re not sure whose) are joined by a meddling group of undead Addams ancestors, as relationships are tested and truths are fully disclosed. Can the Addams family ties survive, or will this “normal” family tear them apart?

Let our cast blow you away with their stunning vocals, electric* dancing, and raunchy comedy. And don’t miss our highly-acclaimed costuming, scenic design, and live musicians!

What is The Addams Family Musical?
It is a musical comedy based on the cartoons and popular TV series inspired by the legendary, American cartoonist Charles Addams.

Who is Charles Addams?
Charles Addams is famous for having created the cartoon characters known as The Addams Family. Eventually, these characters would become the stars of the 1960s TV series adaption, as well as films, and newest Netflix series, Wednesday. Addams is distantly related to American presidents, John Adams and John Quincy Adams. His characters would not received their individual names until the 1960s TV series.

What is The Addams Family Musical about?
The musical features an original story which leans on the comical side of families - their relational dynamics, their struggles with changes within the family, and family values - love, and the illusion of what is "normal." The music (and lyrics written by Andrew Lippa) is new, but memorable.

Is it like the TV series?
It's not really like the 1960s TV series, but fans of the series will not be disappointed. While the book and story (written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice) is original the general thesis of the beloved characters stay true to their origins. Additionally, fans of the Netflix series, will be happy to learn that much like the show, the musical's central focus is on Wednesday. And yes, she sings a very appropriate song.

Where is the musical set?
The setting of The Addams Family Musical is in the Addams' home and grounds located in NYC's Central Park.

Are the characters based on The Munsters?
No, the characters in The Addams Family are not based on The Munsters.

What are the central themes of The Addams Family Musical?
The central themes of the musical comedy are family dynamics, relationships, and embracing individuality. As Morticia says, "Normal is an illusion," and as the show progresses, we see this illusion slip away slowly. As the show progresses, you will find that the Addams' and the Beineke's operate much like any family you know or are apart of. They value trust, quality time, and ultimately want the best for each other.

Are the Addams' actually creepy, kooky, and ooky?
As mentioned, part of the show's theme is embracing individuality. The family members of The Addams clan are unaware or unconcerned that other people find them bizarre or frightening. In fact, they accept each other for their individuality and those "quirks" are actually quite charming.

Who are the central characters of the musical comedy?
Gomez Addams - a man of Spanish decent who takes great pride in his family and revels in all it means to be an "Addams." He struggles with having to keep his daughter's secret from his wife whom he adores more than death.

Morticia Addams - She is the strength of the family. She holds the balance of power in the family and often seems like the only 'emotionally mature member' of the family.

Uncle Fester - serves as the musical's narrator. He is larger than life and has an energetic, joyous, and child-like presence.

Wednesday Addams - has the same dry wit and 'sensibility' as her mother. Finds love with a "normal" boy (Lucas)... I mean, hey, he actually makes her smile so that's saying something... and struggles with bringing their two families together.

Grandma - is a feisty 102 year old woman full of fun and quirk. But don't mess with her!

Pugsley - is a charming, funny boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to ensure he won't lose his bond with his sister to her new boyfriend and so decides to take matters into his own hands.

Lurch - the Addams' Butler who is a constant presence and knows all.

Mal Beineke - the stuffy father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife, Alice. Overtime, he has lost his old self, but his goal remains... look out for his family.

Alice Beineke - the mother of Lucas. She is devoted to her family, to the point that she puts aside her own desires in life for them.

Lucas Beineke - falls in love at first sight with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her. Struggles with the differences between both families.

The Addams Family Ancestors - are a quirky bunch of deceased ancestors who serve as the Greek chorus of the musical. They are reluctantly trapped by Fester in helping bring the young couple together.

Ancestors, huh?
From the start of the musical, it is clear that the Addams value their family history. The constantly bring up their ancestors, who we have already learned are real play-makers in the Lucas and Wednesday storyline. The Addams cherish their history by collecting and preserving family heirlooms. Through this, the Addams emphasize that our family history is often a huge influence on everything around us, from our behaviors and our values.

Can family and conflict go hand-in-hand?
Family doesn't exist without conflict and throughout the show we see this played out between certain family dynamics and the significant changes these dynamics must struggle with. For example, Pugsley and Wednesday (sibling bond), Mal & Alice and Morticia & Gomez (marital bonds), Gomez and Wednesday (father/daughter bond), and the Beinekes (struggling to adapt to the Addams' culture). The Addams and the Beinekes show us different ways, both positive and negative, in dealing with changes that can often make us feel like our lives are turning upside down. However, they also show us how compromise and change are part of life, and how learning to deal with this can help us all grow and heal.
