- REHEARSALS 6/10/25 – 7/5/25, and 7/10/25
- PERFORMANCES 7/5 @ 11am, 7/6 @ 10am, 7/11 @ 11am & 2pm, 7/12 @11am, 7/13 @ 10am

Pay:

$640/wk (5 weeks totaling $3200)

The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County is seeking a PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER for its 2025 Acting Conservatory production: DISNEY’S THE LION KING Jr.
The Gateway Acting Conservatory Program is a subdivision of The Gateway Acting School, and The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County. The Gateway PACSC is a professional not-for-profit theater located roughly 55 miles east of New York City on Long Island in Bellport, NY. Shows are presented at the Gateway Playhouse, our 500-seat home theater. Rehearsal and tech/opening weeks are 6-day weeks, typically with shorter 3 hour rehearsals/classes during the week, and longer rehearsals/classes on the weekends. There is a Brush Up Rehearsal on Thursday 7/10 before the weekend’s performances.

Local applicants are preferred, but housing is available for out-of-town PSMs.

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with High School and Middle School Students/Casts
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge of work practices that prioritize safety, efficiency, and organization
  • Experience with large musicals
  • Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and the ability to work in a collaborative manner
  • Maturity and understanding of the artistic process
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Creation of prompt book, run crew sheet, forms, prop and costume tracking sheets/lists, run order, etc.
  • Assist Directors in all rehearsal studio needs.
  • Manage the ASM & TA, be clear with work hours and responsibilities (ASM & TA will have a Run Crew track during performances)
  • During rehearsal: perform daily setup, track props and scenery, create reports and daily calls
  • During technical rehearsals: In conjunction with the ASM & TA, explain to Run Crew each scenic change, and to assign Run Crew their role in each scenic transition
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace including rehearsal spaces, backstage area in conjunction with Run Crew.
  • Maintain smooth, calm operation of productions during tech rehearsals and performances.
  • Attend production meetings
Staff positions in all departments will be expected to work alongside Apprentices and to promote a healthy and safe work/learning environment.
